I know I just posted about this website earlier this week, but I am so excited it is worth another post.  I have been waiting all summer and I am super excited to see the new fall issue of Knitty is here.  I love the pattern on the front page, perfect for a christmas gift I would like to make.  Apparently some other bloggers (Baa Bonny Bell, SoapQuiltKnit, Knit Like A Man) are excited about the new Knitty too.

Yes, you read the title of this post correctly. You too can knit your own turkey hat. And one heck of a hat it is. I was really trying to keep this blog to things about vintage craft supplies. This post has nothing to do with vintage or recycled crafting, but this hat deserves a spot on our site. I fount this on the Craft blog today. AngelaCatirina’s etsy shop has a pattern for you to knit this turkey hat, and 4 other thanksgiving decorations. Please make sure you click the link and see the pictures of the back of the hat.

This pattern leaves me filled with facination. How does one create a turkey hat pattern? How does one decided to knit a turkey hat? Was the designer just sitting around this summer thinking – “hey, why don’t I try to knit a turkey I could wear on my head.” I really wish the product description told more of the story behind this amazing knitting pattern.

Sadly, the shop is sold out of turkey hat patterns – not quite sure how you sell out of patterns, but hopefully they will have more up soon.

We have a thing for bags, we love them.  Lion Brand Yarn has a ton of free patterns on their website.  You have to sign up for a free account to get to the patterns.  The Satchel Grande is featured in this week’s newsletter.  Plus, I have always wondered how to add wood dowels to the bag so they won’t slide out.  I think I would like to try knitting this with fabric strips.
